Vaccination data is predominantly collected from clinics for Youth (ages 5-17) and Adults (ages 18+) that are held in Ross River and Whitehorse. - Level 5 indicates that there is at least one confirmed case of COVID-19 in Ross River and/or the risk of transmission in rural Yukon is extremely high.
- Risk is elevated due to current vaccination rates, the territorial case count is above 20 and there are possible cases and/or exposures in neighbouring communities.
- Community-level safety measures are now in place to help mitigate the risk and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Ross River.

- Do not visit with others.
- Self-isolate after travel if unvaccinated.
- RRDC Offices are closed to the public until further notice.

- Checkpoint (COVID-19 Safety Stop) is currently on standby.
- Dena General Store is now allowing up to six shoppers at a time, however this will be returning to curbside pick-up and delivery only if cases of COVID-19 are confirmed in the community. Please shop with care, or call to place an order for pickup or delivery at (867) 969-2280.

- Self Isolate. If you are feeling symptoms, please self-isolate immediately.
- Arrange for a Rapid Test. Call the Ross River COVID-19 Support Line at (867) 747-0099 to have a rapid test delivered to your door. You can also contact the Ross River Health Centre at (867) 969-4444 to arrange for a standard COVID-19 PCR test.
- Take the Test. Rapid tests are safe and really easy to use. Simply follow the instructions in the Self-Test Information Kit, and wait 15 minutes for your results.

- Yukon Communicable Disease Control advises you to remain in isolation until you are symptom free for a period of two days.

Rapid Testing Program
- COVID-19 is expected to return to Ross River in early 2022
- Ross River Dena Council believes that routine, voluntary testing will help prevent transmission in our community.
- Self-testing is safe and easy to do, and provides results in just 15 minutes.
- Ross River Dena Council has received an initial order of rapid testing kits. Our first priority is to ensure frontline workers and community members who are experiencing symptoms can take a test right away.
- As more tests arrive in Ross River the program will be expanded.
- If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms and would like to take a test delivered to your door, please call the Ross River COVID-19 Support Line at (867) 747-0099. You will be asked to provide your name, address, phone number and a preferred time for delivery (i.e. morning, afternoon, evening).
- Ross River community members who experience minor symptoms and/or may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 are encouraged to call the Ross River COVID-19 Support Line at (867) 747-0099 to arrange for the delivery of a rapid test kit to your door.
- Please provide us with your name, address, phone number and preferred delivery time (i.e. morning, afternoon, evening).
- A Self Test Information Kit is also available to assist you with your test. Download it here!
- For everyone’s safety the driver will be placing the test kit at your door, knocking and stepping back. He/She will wait for you to pick up the kit. Please bring the kit inside right away. Rapid tests cannot freeze or they will be invalid, so please be ready for the delivery.
Your delivery includes:
- An Abbott PanBio Antigen Rapid Test;
- Instructions on how to self-administer a rapid test;
- A sign for your window indicating if someone in your household has tested positive (voluntary).

Travel Advisory Updates
Due to the recent outbreak, Council is asking travellers to please refrain from visiting Ross River at this time. This will help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in rural Yukon.

Overview
Last summer Ross River Dena Council introduced new outdoor signs to help raise awareness of the COVID-19 risk at the community level. These colourful signs also communicate corresponding safety measures for RRDC Offices, the Dena General Store, and serve as the foundation for deploying additional safety measures, such as the COVID-19 Safety Stop.
Similar to forest fire risk levels, COVID-19 risk levels take into consideration local, regional and other environmental factors that can influence the overall risk to the community. Council considers factors such as vaccination rate, the number of cases in our community, the number of cases in neighbouring communities, the number of cases in the territory, and the overall vulnerability to high-risk behaviour.
Level 1 (New Normal) is in effect when there are no active cases in the community and no active cases in the Yukon.
- RRDC Offices: Open / Safe 6+1
- Dena General Store: Open / Safe 6+1
- COVID-19 Safety Stop: Inactive
- Gatherings: Low Risk / Safe 6+1 Recommended
- Visiting Others: Low Risk / Safe 6+1 Recommended
- Travel Advisory: Safe to travel to and from Ross River.
Level 2 (Low Risk) is in effect when there are no active cases in the Ross River and there are between 1-10 active cases in the Yukon.
- RRDC Offices: Open / Safe 6+1
- Dena General Store: Open / Safe 6+1
- COVID-19 Safety Stop: Inactive
- Gatherings: Low Risk / Safe 6+1 Recommended
- Visiting Others: Low Risk / Safe 6+1 Recommended

Level 3 (Medium Risk) is in effect when there are no active cases in Ross River, but there are between 11-20 active cases in the Yukon and one or more active cases in a neighbouring community (Watson Lake, Faro, Carmacks).

- COVID-19 Safety Stop: Active or Inactive
- Gatherings: Low Risk / Safe 6+1 Recommended
- Visiting Others: Low Risk / Safe 6+1 Recommended
- Travel Advisory: Safe to travel to and from Ross River.
Level 4 (High Risk) is in effect when there are no active cases in Ross River, but more than 20 active cases in the Yukon and one or more active cases in a neighbouring community.

- COVID-19 Safety Stop: Active (daily or weekly)
- Gatherings: High Risk / Not Recommended
- Visiting Others: Hi Risk / Not Recommended
- Travel Advisory (Residents): Refrain from travelling to communities with active COVID-19 cases.
- Travel Advisory (Visitors): Please refrain from travelling to Ross River. Travel should be for essential purposes only (i.e. medical reasons).
Level 5 (Extreme Risk) is in effect when this is an active case in the community or if there are no active cases in the community but there are 50+ active cases in the Yukon.

- Self Isolate. If you are feeling symptoms, please self-isolate immediately.
- Arrange for a Test. Contact the Ross River Health Centre at (867) 969-4444 to arrange for a COVID-19 test. The Health Centre is open 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and is closed on weekends. Dial ‘1’ to reach someone after hours.
- Wait for Test Results. Following your test, you must continue to self-isolate until the Health Centre informs you of the results.
- Make A Self-Isolation Plan. If you test positive it’s time to make the necessary arrangements to ensure you can self-isolate safely. If you are living with others, it will be important to communicate with them about the situation, and to determine if self-isolating at home would be a safe choice, or if another self-isolation option might be better for you.
- Contact Your Support Team. It’s not much fun, but once you have tested positive, it’s important to seek assistance from others just in case you get sick. Your support team will include a nurse from the Health Centre who can answer medical questions and assist with your self-isolation plan. Another member of your team could be a family member or a friend who can assist with picking up groceries or mail. If you don’t have these options, you can always call the Ross River COVID-19 Support Line at (867) 747-0099 and we’d be happy to deliver groceries, pick up mail, and can assist with laundry or facilitating other tasks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Ross River. We’re also here to answer any questions you may have about COVID-19 in the community.
